Trends of The Conceptual Age

2008
10.25

I just finished listening to The Whole New Mind (Audible) and watched some of the comics.
Listening to books, watching comics and storybooks (you watch them!) are not uncommon trends these days. Subscribe to trend central you will be updated every now and then about new trends in this world.
When my friend Harry’s father died, his most interesting inheritance was an envelope. (Does it remind you of The Ultimate Gift)? I don’t really know what was in that envelope, but Harry told me that it contains URL of some websites and few codes. Intellectual Property Rights have come a long way.
We will see something very new in the coming years. We are very lucky that we are able to see this metamorphism while we still have our own cognitive abilities.

  1. Death of the print media. I think print media have already started its last journey with the arrival of Amazon Kindle and Sony’s Reader.
  2. New ways to tell stories. I was totally immersed when I read my first Google map enabled story. “The 21 Steps”.
  3. There are new ways to learn. I am wrong here; it should be new ways to un-learn.
  4. Contrary to Mr. Dan Pink’s (author of The Whole New Mind) assumption about the next conceptual age will not belong to R-minded (R= Right) people but will be dominated by R- minded logicians/analysts/mathematicians/statisticians.
These people will fuse mathematical equations in to an artwork.
  5. Prefer buying Feric, instead of expensive artworks.
  6. Don’t watch Wimbledon on your PC/Mac only, do the stress analysis of Roger’s knee joint or find out how much more swing was needed to make that volley unreachable for Nadal.

In olden times, maths, arts and philosophy were considered as subjects complimentary to each other. There is a stream where all subjects and fields fuse together. I don’t know what it’s called but for the lack of better word let me call it art.
Let me close this post with three luminaries, which were the right mix of Right and Left mindedness.

Leonardo da Vinci

Buckminster Fuller

Albert Einstein

  1. Enjoyed the post, but I know that a new way of making art and a new way of seeing the world is knocking on the door.
It is Post Conceptual and uses symbols, such as letters or numbers for every stroke.
A branch known as UnGraven Image uses binary symbol strokes that reference important concepts in science, math and most of the world’s religions (think duality; good/evil, holy/profane, and yin/yang). The meaning is intrinsic in the stroke(s) not the image.
This kind of work can affect one’s eyesight as it gives the brain a new kind of image. 90% of the perception of vision occurs in the brain as it decodes the impressions of light received from the eyes. Thus these images give a person more visual information.
You can check out the UnGraven Image web site or the Art of Seeing The Divine – Book 1 web site for much more information.

However, the world will not be overtaken by pure logic, as the new form , and probably forms of art will emerge and show new visions that can inspire us.

When I’m school I just remembered that, “everything in this space is compose of numbers”, pure mathematics. And when those numbers are formed in different basis that somehow we can’t understand, and there exist symbols. Which forms different arts naturally or human made.

    Great post.
